Comparison of telecom line types
Comparison of common telecommunication line types.
| Line Type | Transmission Medium / Protocol | Concurrency Capacity | Suitable Scenarios | Disadvantages |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Analog Line | Physical copper line, traditional landline | 1 line = 1 concurrent call | Small and micro-sized businesses | Complex wiring; expansion requires new cabling; difficult to manage |
| Digital Trunk Line (PRI/T1) | Coaxial cable | 1 cable = 23 concurrent calls | Medium and large call centers | Requires dedicated hardware gateway; carriers are gradually discontinuing new activations |
| VoIP Line (e.g. Telny / Flowroute ) |
Public IP network | Depends on bandwidth | Internet telephony | Runs over the public Internet; stability is greatly affected by network conditions |
EasyCallCenter365 supports integration with all of the telecommunication line types listed above.
For customers who still use analog PSTN lines, EasyCallCenter365 can connect to those lines through an FXO analog VoIP gateway. The FXO gateway converts analog phone lines into SIP trunks, which can then be registered or routed to the FreeSWITCH server. Recommended gateway brands include Grandstream for small business deployments, Patton SmartNode for stable commercial deployments, and AudioCodes or Cisco voice gateways for enterprise environments.
